Ronver provides big SSD Storage (251TB) for Scale-IO implementation (500€/TB SSD Enterprise Storage)

Ronver Systems already has several years’ experience in providing IT storage solutions in different sectors and for different customers. Our latest development shows our custom built SSD Flash storage solution for a Dutch partner.

The customer was looking to improve upon his current and out of warranty storage solution with a long term vision on performance and scalability. We put forward different options, ranging from a scaling ZFS cluster, clustering www.open-e.com , towards www.scality.com but in the end the partner decided to go for EMC Scale-IO (http://www.emc.com/storage/scaleio/index.htm )

The hardware layer is built on a basis of redundant supermicro chassis and 10GE motherboards and Samsung latest Samsung PM836 3.84TB SSDs. Delivering a total of 253,44TB of all flash storage.

The primary reasons they chose for the EMC solution are:

-              Performance requirements (pushing theoretical 99K random 4K read and 18K write per SSD)

-              Scalability ( add another node with the same storage and increase the license)

-              Redundancy (spare capacity allows several nodes to be fully down without losing data)

-              Hardware independence (no commitment to HP, DELL or any other storage solution with inflated pricing)

-              Price on budget. (Our hardware platform is around 500€ per TB full SSD!)

This whole project adds up of course but keeping it exactly in budget range of the customer while providing the best equipment and service is where we make the difference!
